Top 20 Strongest Jujutsu Kaisen Characters — Ranked & Analyzed

How We Ranked the Characters

Ranking power in Jujutsu Kaisen is challenging because Gege Akutami's system is built on compatibility, not raw numbers. Our rankings evaluate each character across six dimensions: combat ability, cursed technique effectiveness, domain mastery, physical stats, versatility, and confirmed feats in the manga.

We consider each character at their peak through the Shinjuku Showdown arc. Gojo is rated as he was when fighting Sukuna, Yuji as the veteran who faced the King of Curses in the final battle. This captures each fighter at their strongest narrative moment.

Gojo and Sukuna occupy a tier above everyone else — special grades like Yuta are closer to high-grade 1 than they are to Gojo. Rankings from position 3 onward are more debatable, and technique compatibility can flip any matchup.

Tier System Explained

S-Tier

Transcendent power. Characters who defeat virtually any opponent. Special Grade sorcerers and domain expansion masters who define JJK's upper limit.

A-Tier

Elite sorcerers and curses with refined techniques, domain expansion, or unique abilities dangerous in any confrontation.

B-Tier

Strong fighters with specific specialties. Excel in their niche but lack the power or versatility to compete at the highest levels.

#1

Satoru Gojo

S-Tier | The Strongest Sorcerer

Satoru Gojo is the strongest sorcerer of the modern era, earning that title through absolute, irrefutable power. His Six Eyes grant near-perfect cursed energy efficiency, while the Limitless technique makes him virtually untouchable — Infinity slows anything approaching him to a near-stop, creating an impenetrable barrier. His offensive arsenal includes Blue (gravitational attraction), Red (repulsion), and Hollow Purple (which erases matter). His domain expansion, Unlimited Void, floods a target's mind with infinite information, incapacitating them completely. Gojo's only defeat came through the sealed prison, a special grade object designed specifically to contain him, not through combat. Against Sukuna in Shinjuku, Gojo matched the King of Curses blow for blow, forcing Sukuna to use Mahoraga's adaptation ability to find a counter. The fact that it took the strongest curse in history plus Mahoraga to defeat him says everything about his power level.

Abilities: Six Eyes, Limitless (Blue, Red, Hollow Purple), Infinity, Unlimited Void
Feat: Overwhelmed four disaster curses simultaneously in Shibuya; killed Toji.
Vs: Equal to Sukuna. Lost only to Mahoraga's.
#2

Ryomen Sukuna

S-Tier | The King of Curses

Ryomen Sukuna is the undisputed King of Curses, a being with over a thousand years of combat experience and cursed energy mastery. In his true form, Sukuna possesses four arms and two faces, allowing him to make hand signs for domain expansion while simultaneously attacking — an advantage no other sorcerer can match. Cleave and Dismantle are slashing attacks that adapt to the target's toughness: Dismantle is a standard slash while Cleave adjusts its power to cut through any defense in one strike. Malevolent Shrine, his domain, requires no barrier, meaning it cannot be broken from the outside and covers an enormous radius — everything inside is continuously sliced to dust. Beyond these, Sukuna wields Furnace (city-block annihilation) and the ability to understand and adapt to any cursed technique he observes. In the Shinjuku Showdown, Sukuna defeated Gojo by using Mahoraga to develop a counter to Infinity, demonstrating not just raw power but tactical genius accumulated over centuries.

Abilities: Cleave, Dismantle, Furnace, Malevolent Shrine, Domain Amplification, Adaptation
Feat: Defeated Gojo in domain battle; killed thousands in Shibuya.
Vs: Edges out Gojo due to four-arm physiology.
#3

Yuta Okkotsu

S-Tier | The Special Grade Prodigy

Yuta Okkotsu began as a cursed teenager haunted by his childhood friend Rika, but by the main series he is one of only four special grade sorcerers. His cursed energy reserves are second only to Sukuna, giving him immense staying power. His Copy technique lets him add observed cursed techniques to his arsenal — over time accumulating Cursed Speech, Clairvoyance, and Jacob's Ladder. In the Sendai Colony arc, Yuta defeated four ancient sorcerers in sequence, establishing himself as the dominant power. His domain expansion, Authentic Mutual Love, creates a space where copied techniques become more accessible and Rika fights autonomously. While Yuta lacks the transcendent quality of Gojo and Sukuna, he is comfortably the strongest of the remaining special grades and can defeat virtually any non-Gojo/Sukuna opponent.

Abilities: Rika, Copy Technique, Cursed Speech, Jacob's Ladder, Authentic Mutual Love (Domain)
Feat: Soloed Sendai Colony against four ancient sorcerers; killed Geto.
Vs: Below Gojo/Sukuna but above all other special.
#4

Kenjaku

S-Tier | The Ancient Schemer

Kenjaku is not the strongest in raw output, but his thousand years of experience and strategic mind elevate him to special grade status. His brain-transfer technique gives him access to accumulated knowledge and cursed techniques across centuries. In Suguru Geto's body, he gained Cursed Spirit Manipulation, controlling thousands of curses including multiple special grades. His barrier techniques are the most refined in the series — he created the barriers for the Death Paintings, Culling Game colonies, and modified Tengen's barriers. His Antigravity System manipulates gravitational forces. Kenjaku's greatest strength is preparation: he orchestrated Gojo's sealing, the Shibuya Incident, the Culling Games, and almost succeeded in merging Tengen with humanity. In direct combat, he defeated special grade Yuki Tsukumo and survived encounters with multiple high-level sorcerers.

Abilities: Brain Transfer, Cursed Spirit Manipulation, Antigravity System, Domain Expansion, Barrier Mastery
Feat: Defeated Yuki Tsukumo; sealed Gojo; orchestrated the Culling Games;.
Vs: Below Yuta in a pure fight but.
#5

Yuki Tsukumo

S-Tier | The Star Rage Vessel

Yuki Tsukumo is one of only four special grade sorcerers. Her technique, Star Rage, adds virtual mass to herself and her shikigami Garuda, turning her punches into strikes carrying the force of a small planet. Her fighting style is brutally straightforward — enhanced physical attacks that destroy almost anything they connect with. Garuda can transform into a weapon carrying the same virtual mass property. Her battle against Kenjaku forced him to use everything in his arsenal including maximum-output Antigravity System and his domain. Yuki died in that fight, but not before severely wounding Kenjaku and destroying multiple special grade curses. Her loss was not due to a power gap — Kenjaku developed a counter-strategy for Star Rage over years of knowing her abilities. In any other matchup, her sheer destructive capacity would overcome most opponents.

Abilities: Star Rage (virtual mass), Garuda shikigami, Domain Expansion
Feat: Forced Kenjaku to extreme difficulty; destroyed multiple special grade.
Vs: Highest destructive output among special grades. Above.
#6

Hajime Kashimo

S-Tier | The Electricity Sorcerer

Hajime Kashimo is an ancient sorcerer from the Edo period reincarnated during the Culling Games. His cursed technique, Mythical Beast Amber, transforms his cursed energy into electricity, granting speed, reflexes, and attack power that surpass almost every sorcerer. His sure-hit attack releases an unavoidable lightning bolt that kills most targets instantly. Kashimo's primary motivation was not survival but the desire to fight Sukuna. When he finally faced the King of Curses in the Shinjuku Showdown, Kashimo forced Sukuna to use a serious technique to defeat him — a feat few characters can claim. While limited in strategic depth, his raw combat ability places him among the highest in the series.

Abilities: Mythical Beast Amber, Sure-Hit Lightning, Electrification, Staff Combat
Feat: Forced Sukuna to use a serious technique; dominated Culling.
Vs: One of the strongest ancient sorcerers. Sure-hit.
#7

Toji Fushiguro

A-Tier | The Sorcerer Killer

Toji Fushiguro earned the title "Sorcerer Killer" hunting jujutsu society's most dangerous members. His Heavenly Restriction grants superhuman physical abilities in exchange for zero cursed energy — no cursed energy for sorcerers to sense or domains to target, making him a natural counter to technique users. He can catch bullets, move faster than the eye can track, and hit with enough force to shatter reinforced concrete. His arsenal includes the Inverted Spear of Heaven (nullifies techniques on contact) and the Chain of a Thousand Miles. Toji's most famous feat is killing teenage Satoru Gojo and Suguru Geto in a single night. He also defeated special grade curse Dagon by punching through his domain barrier — something sorcerers said was impossible.

Abilities: Heavenly Restriction (zero CE, peak physicals), Inverted Spear of Heaven, Chain.
Feat: Killed teenage Gojo and Geto in one night; punched.
Vs: Natural counter to CT users. Zero CE.
#8

Maki Zenin

A-Tier | The Heavenly Restriction Awakening

Maki Zenin began with a failed Heavenly Restriction — zero cursed energy but no compensating physical boost. Her awakening after Mai's death changed everything. When the last restrictions released, Maki became a full Heavenly Restriction user, gaining the same superhuman abilities that made Toji legendary. Her first act was slaughtering the entire Zenin clan single-handedly, including all grade 1 sorcerers. Her Split Soul Katana cuts through souls, effective even against immortal opponents. Like Toji, Maki has no cursed energy, making her invisible to domain sure-hits. Throughout the Culling Games and Shinjuku Showdown, she consistently operates at peak physical capability, keeping pace with ancient sorcerers through pure combat skill.

Abilities: Heavenly Restriction (peak physical), Split Soul Katana, Dragon Bone, Sumo Enhancement
Feat: Killed the entire Zenin clan; matched Naoya's projection sorcery;.
Vs: Equal to Toji at peak. Split Soul.
#9

Yorozu

A-Tier | The Construction Sorcerer

Yorozu is an ancient sorcerer with the Construction technique — creating anything from cursed energy. Unlike most Construction users, her immense reserves sustain complex creations for extended periods. Her signature Liquid Metal is a shape-shifting substance she molds into weapons, armor, or constructs mid-battle, allowing flight, shielding, and blades that cut through reinforced defenses. In her fight against Sukuna (in Megumi's body), Yorozu demonstrated her domain expansion, which creates a reality where Construction works perfectly. She pressured Sukuna enough to make him take her seriously. Yorozu's thrill-seeking personality often prolongs battles for enjoyment, but at full power from the start, she is a threat to any non-Sukuna/Gojo opponent.

Abilities: Construction Technique, Liquid Metal, Domain Expansion, Insect Armor
Feat: Fought Sukuna (in Megumi's body) and forced him to.
Vs: Below Ryu in raw output but more.
#10

Ryu Ishigori

A-Tier | The Highest Output

Ryu Ishigori has the highest cursed energy output in recorded history. His technique, Granite Blast, converts this output into projectile attacks that level buildings and damage even reinforced sorcerers. Granite Blast is not a simple beam — he controls its shape, size, and timing for wide-area blasts or precision shots. In close combat, Ryu is equally formidable, delivering devastating physical strikes at maximum output. His fight against Yuta was even — Ryu's output matched Yuta's massive reserves, making direct clashes inconclusive. He also survived a point-blank Hollow Purple. His domain expansion focuses on maximizing his already-ridiculous output. While straightforward, his sheer firepower makes him a top-tier threat.

Abilities: Granite Blast, Highest CE Output, Domain Expansion, Reinforced Physical Combat
Feat: Matched Yuta in direct combat; tanked Hollow Purple and.
Vs: Highest pure output in history. Below Yuta.
#11

Yuji Itadori

A-Tier | The Black Flash Prodigy

Yuji Itadori is the most dramatically improved character in the series. From a rookie who could barely control cursed energy to a fighter landing Black Flashes against Sukuna himself, his growth is staggering. His combat style is built on abnormal physicality — even before becoming Sukuna's vessel, Yuji held national-level records. His signature techniques include Divergent Fist (delayed second impact), Black Flash (which he lands more consistently than any sorcerer), and Simple Domain. By the Shinjuku Showdown, Yuji is a combat veteran who analyzes opponent techniques mid-fight and adapts. Against Sukuna in the final arc, Yuji evolved from vessel to active combatant, landing multiple Black Flashes and coordinating with allies. His potential ceiling remains unknown — he has never developed an innate technique, suggesting room for growth.

Abilities: Black Flash, Divergent Fist, Simple Domain, Superhuman Physicals, Cursed Energy Reinforcement
Feat: Multiple Black Flashes on Sukuna in Shinjuku; killed Mahito.
Vs: Below Yuta/Todo in experience but has highest.
#12

Aoi Todo

A-Tier | The Boogie Woogie Genius

Aoi Todo is a grade 1 sorcerer whose combat intelligence rivals anyone in the series. Boogie Woogie lets him swap positions of anything with cursed energy by clapping. In Todo's hands this simple ability becomes devastating — he swaps himself with enemies, allies, debris, or projectiles mid-flight, creating chaos only he can predict. Against Hanami, Todo's coordination with Yuji turned a losing battle into victory. His fight against Mahito in Shibuya, fought one-handed, showed his adaptability under extreme pressure. Todo is also one of the few characters who intentionally land Black Flash. Trained by Yuki Tsukumo, he possesses exceptional physical stats. The loss of his dominant hand would have ended most sorcerers' careers, but Todo's combat intelligence remains top-tier.

Abilities: Boogie Woogie (position swap), Black Flash, Combat Genius, High Physical Stats
Feat: Fought Mahito one-handed; coordinated Yuji into a Black Flash.
Vs: Top tier grade 1. Boogie Woogie offers.
#13

Jogo

A-Tier | The Volcano Disaster Curse

Jogo is the Disaster Curse of Volcano, born from humanity's fear of natural disasters. He possesses the highest destructive output among the four disaster curses — his Maximum technique Meteor can level city blocks. His volcanic manipulation generates extreme heat, spews lava, and creates eruptions at will. His speed is exceptional; he briefly matched Gojo's movements before being outclassed. Against non-Gojo opponents, Jogo's firepower is overwhelming, requiring multiple grade 1 sorcerers to counter even restrained attacks. His domain expansion, Coffin of the Iron Mountain, traps targets in a volcanic hellscape of continuous burning. Jogo's overconfidence is his weakness — he consistently underestimates opponents. In pure destructive capability, however, he is the strongest disaster curse, threatening entire armies of sorcerers with a single Meteor strike.

Abilities: Disaster Flames, Maximum Meteor, Volcanic Manipulation, Coffin of the Iron Mountain (Domain)
Feat: Leveled city blocks with Meteor; briefly matched Gojo's speed;.
Vs: Strongest disaster curse in raw destruction. Below.
#14

Mahito

A-Tier | The Curse of Humans

Mahito is the Disaster Curse of Humans, born from humanity's hatred of each other. Idle Transfiguration lets him reshape souls — including his own and anyone he touches. He can transform his body into any shape (weapons, armor, wings, or splitting into smaller bodies) and transfigure opponents by touching their soul, effectively killing them instantly. Every close-range exchange against Mahito is life-threatening. He can heal his own soul, making physical damage meaningless as long as his soul remains intact. Mahito evolves rapidly through combat, starting as a child-like curse and ending as a domain-using special grade who killed Nanami and Nobara. His domain, Self-Embodiment of Perfection, transfigures anyone caught inside instantly — one of the most lethal domains in the series. His only consistent weakness is emotional volatility; Yuji exploited this to defeat him through psychological damage to his soul.

Abilities: Idle Transfiguration, Self-Transformation, Soul Healing, Domain: Self-Embodiment of Perfection
Feat: Killed Nanami and Nobara; became special grade through evolution;.
Vs: Hax-based combatant. Idle Transfiguration is one of.
#15

Hiromi Higuruma

A-Tier | The Lawyer Sorcerer

Hiromi Higuruma is the most extraordinary prodigy in JJK — a former attorney who mastered domain expansion in weeks, a process taking most sorcerers years. His domain, Deadly Sentencing, creates a courtroom where Judgeman presides over a trial based on the opponent's past crimes. If found guilty, the penalty is confiscation of their cursed technique or the Executioner's Sword (a blade that kills anyone it cuts). This rule-based domain has defeated opponents far stronger than Higuruma by stripping their abilities. Against Yuji, it exposed Sukuna's killings through Yuji's body. Against Sukuna himself, Higuruma landed the Executioner's Sword — a feat few can claim. Outside his domain, he is competent with his gavel shikigami, but his physical abilities are below grade 1. His power lies entirely in his domain's hax ability to disarm opponents.

Abilities: Deadly Sentencing (Domain), Judgeman, Confiscation, Executioner's Sword, Gavel Shikigami
Feat: Wounded Sukuna with Executioner's Sword; confiscated cursed techniques from.
Vs: Domain has the highest hax potential. Weak.
#16

Uraume

A-Tier | Sukuna's Ice Wielder

Uraume is Sukuna's most loyal servant, a Heian-era sorcerer who has served the King of Curses for over a thousand years. Their ice manipulation creates cursed-energy ice that freezes cursed spirits, shikigami, and even domains. Frost Calm creates massive formations freezing multiple targets simultaneously. Uraume has frozen entire barriers and counteracted domain expansions with their ice. In combat they use both ranged ice attacks and close-quarters ice-enhanced weapons, remaining calm and composed even in danger — a reflection of centuries of experience. During the Shibuya Incident, Uraume overwhelmed multiple grade 1 sorcerers effortlessly. In the Shinjuku Showdown, they served as Sukuna's primary support, controlling the battlefield with ice. Their loyalty limits their independence, but consistent performance against high-level opponents places them firmly in A-tier.

Abilities: Ice Formation, Frost Calm, Freezing Barrier, Domain Expansion
Feat: Overwhelmed multiple grade 1 sorcerers in Shibuya; froze entire.
Vs: Elite-level combatant. Ice manipulation offers both offense.
#17

Megumi Fushiguro

A-Tier | The Ten Shadows User

Megumi Fushiguro's official rank understates his true capability because he rarely fights at full strength. His Ten Shadows technique summons shikigami from a hereditary pool — Nue, Divine Dogs, and Max Elephant form his standard arsenal, while the Great Serpent and Chimera Shadow Garden domain represent his higher potential. His most dangerous ability is summoning Mahoraga, the eighth shadow that adapts to any phenomenon after experiencing it. Mahoraga required Sukuna's full power to defeat, but it attacks the summoner too until tamed. Megumi's biggest weakness is his mentality — he lacks killer instinct, hesitating to sacrifice his shikigami permanently. In potential, Megumi has the highest ceiling after Gojo and Sukuna, but his actual combat performance places him in A-tier.

Abilities: Ten Shadows, Mahoraga, Chimera Shadow Garden, Shadow Manipulation
Feat: Summoned and tamed multiple shadows; Chimera Shadow Garden vs.
Vs: Highest potential among grade 1 sorcerers. Below.
#18

Choso

B-Tier | The Death Painting Womb

Choso is one of the Death Painting Wombs — half-human, half-cursed beings created by Kenjaku. As the eldest and most powerful of the nine, he possesses exceptional Blood Manipulation: shaping blood into weapons (Blood Edge), firing it at supersonic speeds (Piercing Blood), or detonating it on contact (Supernova). Flowing Red Scale enhances his physical abilities by accelerating blood flow, granting speed comparable to grade 1 sorcerers. As a half-curse, he regenerates much faster than humans. His battle against Yuji in Shibuya consistently outmaneuvered Yuji, forcing him to grow. After learning Yuji is his "brother" (same mother, created by Kenjaku), Choso becomes a loyal ally. His peak moment came when Piercing Blood penetrated Kenjaku's barrier. Choso lacks domain expansion and elite firepower but is a solid high-grade 1 sorcerer with exceptional utility.

Abilities: Blood Manipulation, Piercing Blood, Flowing Red Scale, Supernova, Regeneration
Feat: Piercing Blood penetrated Kenjaku's barrier; fought Yuji to a.
Vs: Strong semi-grade 1 level. Below the disaster.
#19

Nanami Kento

B-Tier | The Ratio Sorcerer

Nanami Kento is a grade 1 sorcerer and one of the most reliable fighters in the series. His Ratio technique creates a weak point on any target at the 7:3 ratio. When he strikes this weak point with Collapse, the target suffers disproportionate damage regardless of durability, allowing Nanami to kill opponents above his weight class. His Overtime binding vow increases his cursed energy output outside work hours, making him more dangerous after 6 PM. In combat, Nanami is methodical, using a cloth-wrapped blade for precise cuts combined with Ratio strikes. He damaged Mahito significantly despite soul-based regeneration. His death — burning himself alive to prevent transfiguration — is one of the series' most heroic moments. His technique is single-target and requires precise timing, placing him firmly in B-tier.

Abilities: Ratio Technique, Collapse (Critical Hit), Overtime Binding Vow, Skilled Swordsman
Feat: Damaged Mahito significantly in Shibuya; protected civilians while mortally wounded
Vs: Reliable grade 1. Outclassed by disaster curses.
#20

Nobara Kugisaki

B-Tier | The Resonance Sniper

Nobara Kugisaki is a grade 1 sorcerer whose Straw Doll Technique offers a unique combat advantage. Resonance lets her damage a target through a doll using a piece of their body (hair, blood, nail) as a medium. The damage transfers directly regardless of distance or barriers, bypassing conventional defenses because it attacks the spiritual connection, not the body. Hairpin turns implanted nails into remote explosives for area control. Her aggressive fighting style combines nails fired with a hammer and Resonance to attack from unexpected angles. Against Eso and Kechizu, she used Resonance through one brother to damage both simultaneously, turning their shared blood into a weakness. Nobara's biggest limitation is fragility — she cannot take sustained damage from grade 1 opponents, relying entirely on not getting hit. Her presumed death by Mahito illustrates this weakness.

Abilities: Straw Doll Technique, Resonance, Hairpin, Nail Projectiles
Feat: Defeated Eso and Kechizu through shared blood Resonance; damaged.
Vs: Low grade 1 in raw stats. Hax.

Frequently Asked Questions About JJK Power Rankings

Q: Who is the strongest character in Jujutsu Kaisen?

Gojo and Sukuna are essentially tied. Gojo has superior defense through Infinity, while Sukuna has superior versatility with four arms and a barrierless domain. The Shinjuku Showdown gave Sukuna a slight edge through Mahoraga's adaptation to bypass Infinity. If forced for one answer, Sukuna's thousand years of experience and wider arsenal give him the narrowest advantage.

Q: Why is Toji ranked so high with no cursed technique?

Toji's Heavenly Restriction counters the entire jujutsu system. Zero cursed energy means domains cannot target him and he is invisible to sensors. His physical stats exceed every sorcerer including special grades, and he killed a teenage Gojo who was already special grade level. Toji operates entirely outside the cursed energy system, making him uniquely dangerous.

Q: Where would Kusakabe rank?

Kusakabe would place in high B-tier. His Simple Domain is the most refined in modern jujutsu and his New Shadow Style swordsmanship is masterful, but he lacks the output and hax abilities of higher-ranked characters. The ultimate defensive fighter who cannot deliver decisive damage against elite opponents.

Q: Is Megumi stronger than Yuji?

At equal points in the story, Megumi has more versatile abilities while Yuji has better physical stats. Post-Shibuya, Yuji is ahead in combat experience. In potential, Megumi has the higher ceiling because Mahoraga's adaptation is arguably the most powerful ability outside Gojo and Sukuna. In practice, Megumi rarely uses his full power.

Q: Why is Panda not on the list?

Panda is a semi-grade 1 sorcerer who lacks the cursed technique refinement and decisive victory feats of these ranked characters. He would place in B-tier but has never demonstrated the ability to defeat a disaster curse or special grade opponent.
